The Cerequio cru, nestled between La Morra and Barolo, is celebrated for producing some of the appellationās most perfumed and graceful wines. Boroliās 2019 bottling captures the essence of this terroirāsouth-southeast facing vineyards on calcareous-clay soils at 350 meters elevationādelivering Nebbiolo of detail, tension, and aromatic depth.Ā
The 2019 growing season was cool and slow-developing, with excellent conditions for long hang time and phenolic maturity. Grapes were harvested by hand and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by maceration on the skins for about three weeks. The wine was aged for 24 months in French oak barrels (a combination of large casks and tonneaux), followed by further refinement in bottle.
The result is a Barolo of layered complexity: red currant, pomegranate, and licorice meet violet, iron, and cedar in a wine that balances freshness and richness with remarkable finesse. The tannins are ripe and integrated, with the signature lift and silkiness that define Cerequio. Best from 2026ā2040+.
