2023 Pala “Centosere” Cannonau, Sardinia, Italy

2023 Pala “Centosere” Cannonau, Sardinia, Italy

ABOUT THE WINE

Produced from 100% Cannonau, Sardinia’s historic expression of Grenache, “Centosere” comes from mature vines rooted in the sun-soaked, limestone-influenced landscapes of southern Sardinia. The vineyards benefit from warm Mediterranean days, cooling sea breezes, and naturally low yields that create concentration while preserving freshness.

The wine is fermented with a focus on purity and regional identity, with aging in neutral vessels rather than new oak to highlight Cannonau’s natural aromas and texture. The result is a wine that combines ripe red berries, cherry, subtle floral tones, wild herbs, spice, and a touch of earthy complexity. Supple tannins and a rounded mouthfeel make it immediately approachable, while its structure reflects the rugged Sardinian terroir.

A classic partner for Mediterranean cuisine, it pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, grilled lamb, tomato-based pastas, charcuterie, aged pecorino, and herb-driven dishes.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Founded in 1950 in the village of Serdiana in southern Sardinia, Pala is a family-run estate dedicated to preserving the island’s native grape varieties while embracing thoughtful, modern winemaking. Under the leadership of the Pala family, the winery has become one of Sardinia’s benchmark producers, known for crafting wines that express the island’s distinctive soils, climate, and traditions.

The estate emphasizes sustainable vineyard practices, careful site selection, and respect for indigenous varieties such as Cannonau, Vermentino, Monica, and Nuragus. Pala’s philosophy centers on allowing each grape and vineyard to speak clearly—combining generations of Sardinian heritage with precision and elegance in the cellar. “Centosere” reflects this vision: a pure, expressive Cannonau that celebrates the warmth, biodiversity, and timeless character of Sardinia.
